About You 8/17/2023

Dream about you often
You’re never far away
Just whisper your name
Knowing
You’ll come my way.

My body still yearns
To feel your hug
And to see your smile
But my heart knows better
And just continues to live
Without any need
To sigh and cry.

‘‘Twas a long road for me
Many lessons learned
About healing grief
But somehow you knew
This would happen
From the beginning
Of the event.

Sleepless nights
Were abundant
Tossed and turned
Too many times
Trying to understand
Too many why’s.

Needed to change
My perspective and
Stagnant thoughts
Tis the ones gathering
Moss
Making it difficult
To let go of loss.

Never a dull moment now
As my wisdom
About life and death
Matured.
And my compassionate self
Has been nurtured
Making it easier to
Feel love all around.
