You Made Me Feel 11/25/2021

Never had faith
In prayers
Or miracles
Felt contrite
And unrealistic
Part of life.

But that changed
Dramatically
As life’s unpredictability
Crushed my beliefs
And perceptions
About everything
I thought was right.

Angry at Life
Angry at God
As I buried my loved one
Into the ground.

Darkness surrounded me
For quite some time
Until a defining moment
Lifted my heart
And opened
My eyes.

You made me feel
Love gently
As birds came
To my window
Offering
A sweet hello.

You made me feel
Compassion
As the breeze caressed
My cheek
Drying the tears
That streamed
Down them.

“You made me feel”
Worthy of love
As peace filled
My heart
Making me
“Feel like heaven”
Is within.

Acknowledging
This tender miracle
As a building block
For a new foundation
To rebuild my life on.
