On Hold 05/07/2021

Reverse, fast forward and hold
Control buttons on a remote
But also used in life
When events come at us
Stronger than expected.

We think we have control
Of what happens in life
Reversing backwards
Replaying the happy parts
Or fast forwarding over sadness
Trying to forget it.

And when in despair
We pause life
Pushing the button
I’m on hold
Till everything can be figured out.

What an added feature
Control buttons would be in life
Providing
We use them wisely.

Happiness and sadness
Darkness and lightness
Two sides of a coin
Must exist in life simultaneously
For balance to occur.

Empowered with sadness
Shifting through
What’s really needed to mend
Allows us to experience
Life in the fullest dimension.

As happiness resurfaces
Appreciation of life changes
Grateful for the ability
To pause and reflect
Before moving forward
Once again.
